Mission Video Series

A 5-minute video series exploring our new mission and vision: what it is, why it matters and how we can join the adventure.

Our Mission

Rooted in Jesus

We are rooted in Jesus when we grow deeper in both intellectual and experiential knowledge of God. This involves adopting spiritual practices (disciplines), engaging with Jesus himself, and actively seeking his will. We are rooted when every part of gathered worship (e.g., Sunday worship service) is centred in Jesus. We are rooted when Scripture is taught and the criteria for selecting music are Trinity centric; preaching is centred around knowing Christ; and prayer is centred in Christ.

Growing as a Community

Growing as a community involves spiritual, relational and numerical increase. Kortright grows spiritually when we pursue corporate spiritual development.
We grow relationally when we strengthen our connections and networks of support and care and challenge one another.
We value all who are joining our church community and are particularly seeking numerical growth by incorporating those who are new to or returning to faith in Christ.

Becoming Trusted Neighbours

Trust has been broken in society and in some of us. Building trust is vital for evangelism and for a healthy community.
Neighbours includes our church congregation, the neighbourhood around 55 Devere Dr, the people that our people know in their various contexts, and our mission partners.
We become trusted neighbours when we show ourselves to be competent and honest; when we are sensitive to those around us and care for the good of our neighbours.
We become worthy of trust by keeping confidences, having direct conversations, even tough ones, respecting boundaries, and practicing gentle accountability.
